Frequently asked

What is the GATE CSE qualifying cutoff?

The minimum marks (out of 100) needed to qualify GATE and receive a scorecard. Qualifying does not guarantee admission anywhere — institute admission cutoffs are much higher.

Is qualifying cutoff the same as admission cutoff?

No. Qualifying gets you a scorecard. IIT/NIT M.Tech admission happens via COAP/CCMT at far higher scores — often 2–3× the qualifying marks for top institutes.

Why does the cutoff change every year?

It depends on paper difficulty and candidate performance. GATE CSE qualifying marks have ranged between 25 and 32.5 over the last five years.
